Tonight's "Happy Meal"...(Grilled Organic Grass-Fed Beef Hot Dogs, Bubbies Sauerkraut & Roasted Brussels Sprouts)

This evening we had a quick and super simple dinner.  A couple of weeks ago, I picked up a package of Applegate Organic Grass-Fed Beef Hot Dogs, thinking that those might be nice to add to our menu for the "4th of July" this week. But, our weather forecast is for a 100% chance of rain on the 4th...so instead, I decided we'd grill them for our "1st of July" dinner tonight instead...LOL.  I thought about making a bread-type of bun, but wasn't really in the mood for any kind of bun, so I didn't bother (it is such a liberating feeling to not want or need bread to enjoy my hot dog). Normally I am not much of a hot dog person -- I probably don't even eat one per year...but I decided to go ahead and have them tonight.  While hubby was outside grilling the dogs, I roasted some brussels sprouts with sea salt, black pepper and olive oil to go with them and opened up a jar of Bubbies Sauerkraut that I had been wanting to try (I'm not much of a sauerkraut person either...but I'm trying to expand my tastes a little).  I added a little dill pickle to our plates and we enjoyed a mini indoor cook-in (instead of cook-out).  I snapped a few photos of our "gourmet meal" for you to see below.  See if you can guess why I refer to it as a "Happy Meal"!  ;-)  I also snapped a few other random photos of some items I picked up this past weekend.  P.S.-- I created a new recipe for "granola bars" today too that I will post later this evening or tomorrow after I've finished writing it up.  Enjoy!

Happy Meal...

BOOM!

Totally Random...

Some people might think I'm nuts...but I just happen to like them...Aloha!  :-)

Hubby & I have tried putting our Applegate hot dogs in a wheat-free wrap and they are pretty good that way! I also am funny about sauerkraut-only like it on hot dogs or reubens.

I used the herb & garlic Kerrygold butter tonight on carrots (along with your spinach pie-yum!) I think it will become a staple!

Hi Darlene! This was my first time trying Applegate's hot dogs and they were good! I did consider making something to put them in, but decided I didn't really want a bun. I bet it is easier to put stuff on them though if you use a wrap like you do. I just sliced mine and swiped them through my little ketchup/mustard smiley face! So glad you like the Kerrygold herb & garlic butter too -- it is a simple addition to veggies to butter and season at the same time! That spinach-feta pie is one of my favorites -- as a matter of fact I have another pound of baby spinach in the fridge that keeps whispering my name (for spinach-feta pie)...LOL. If I'm not careful I will make my hubby sick of it! ;-)

Hi GGC,

Love your Happy Meal and the smiley face! :-) I haven't had a hot dog for ages ... will have to look for the Applegate ones. Did you find them at Costco? Happy "4th"! Maybe the weatherman will get it wrong this time ... it *could* happen!

Hi CyberSis! I actually found the Applegate hot dogs at a Publix nearby -- I paid $7.99 for a package of 8. Yesterday I was at Whole Foods and they had them for around $6.00+ -- that is the first time I have ever paid MORE for something at my regular grocery store than at Whole Foods! LOL I have also seen them at Trader Joe's as well. My Costco doesn't carry them. I am really not much of a hot dog person either -- rarely ever eat one...but I must say, these tasted pretty good! :-)
